031 Hold to the Rod: The Men's Sexpisode

Shame derives its power from being unspeakable...if we speak shame, it begins to wither. Just the way exposure to light was deadly for the gremlins, language and story bring light to shame and destroy it.

“Let’s talk about sex, baby;

Let’s talk about you and me;

Let’s talk about all the good things

And the bad things that may be.”

-- Salt-N-Pepa

Today we’re kicking off a series of episodes focused on sexuality and Mormonism. It’s a huge topic, and we know we are only scratching the surface with these episodes, but we do hope our listeners find value in hearing our experiences. By their very nature, these episodes contain adult content and some graphic conversation, so listener discretion is advised.

In this episode Aimee, our resident sex therapist, facilitates a discussion between Oliver and our two guest panelists, Josh and Rob, as the three of them talk about how Mormonism shaped their sexual development. They discuss their early experiences with youthful sexual exploration, the ways Mormon teachings on sexuality impacted their relationships and marriages, and share some thoughts on where they are now.

Be on the lookout for our upcoming episodes: a women’s panel featuring three of our regular contributors, and an experts take where Aimee and some of her colleagues discuss the topic from a professional sex therapist’s point-of-view.
